Chichester Festival Theatre is one of the UK’s flagship theatres, with a reputation for providing a wide range of theatrical productions

DLS: ARCH acted as design and build architects to develop this scheme from planning consent through to completion.

The brief required the demolition of the old “Gunters” restaurant and the construction of a 4,500 square feet pavilion, providing space for education and rehearsal facilities. A unique feature of the building is the emphasis on the use of timber, particularly the structural superstructure that was imported from Europe and erected within two weeks.

This is a place where artists are able to work together with the community and provide an active and creative working space for Chichester as well as a space for Chichester’s youth theatre.
